There is an update to current laws coming into force by the end of the year which effect companies and business landlords and tenancies.
For those interested in company insolvency, the current restrictions brought in by the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 meant that in certain circumstances, Winding Up Petitions could not be presented. This restriction was due to end on 31 December 2020 but is now being extended to 31 March 2021.
For those interested in business tenancies and particularly, forfeiture arising from rent arrears, the law preventing forfeiture arising from rent arrears found in s.82 of the Coronavirus Act 2020 will now be extended to 31 March 2021.
This restriction still does not prevent landlords bringing money claims for unpaid rent.
